Description

Erin Lee Gafill-Color Duets

We are extremely excited to have Erin Lee Garfill here for a reception, slideshow & question and answer session. Erin is the niece of Kaffe Fassett.

Erin is a museum-exhibited artist, author, and award-winning teacher dedicated to helping others awaken their creative spirit. Known for her fearless use of color in painting and textiles, her artistic voice was profoundly shaped by her uncle—and sometime baby-sitter—designer and fine art painter Kaffe Fassett.

For more than a decade, Erin and Kaffe spent stolen weeks painting and knitting side-by-side, sharing an intensely personal creative dialogue that bridged generations. These private retreats became the heart of Color Duets, a body of work encompassing paintings, textiles, and family stories born from twelve to fifteen years of collaboration.

Color Duets celebrates both Erin and Kaffe Fassett’s fine art practice—while honoring the rare intimacy of an uncle–niece partnership rooted in color, mentorship, and shared devotion to making. The works were featured in a major exhibition at the Monterey Museum of Art in 2021.

The book Color Duets is a collection of original artwork, textiles, and personal narrative, and serves as the official catalog for the museum exhibition, which opened in May 2021 in Monterey, California.
An autographed copy of Color Duets and a special offering of wrapping paper will be available for purchase during the event.
